An ancient Egyptian blue faience amulet depicting the child god Harpokrates nude, wearing the side lock of youth.

Height: 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm).

Harpokrates, the infant son of Isis and Horus was a symbol of youth and fertility. He was essentially a patron deity of childhood, especially popular in the Late Period. Often depicting suckling Isis, wearing the side lock of youth, and with his index finger to his mouth.

Formerly in a New York private collection, acquired in London in the 1990s.
