Egyptian Faience Menat Counterpoise

An ancient Egyptian blue faience Menat counterpoise with a depiction of the lion headed goddess Sekhmet in profile.

Late Period.
Ca. 700 - 30 BC.
Height: 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm).

The Menat was a protective ritual object associated with the goddess Hathor. It was a counterweight of a necklace which dangled on the wearer’s back. It often depicted of deities the feminine deities Hathor and Sekhmet.
