Horus was the primary deity of the ancient Egyptian pantheon. He was worshipped from as early as the Pre-Dynastic Period. The god was most often depicted as a falcon or as a man with a falcon head wearing the double crown of upper and lower Egypt. Horus was the embodiment of the eternal sky. The pharaoh was viewed as the living manifestation of the god Horus.
