An ancient Egyptian New Kingdom alabaster ‘thistle-form’ vase with broad lip and body tapering to a disk foot.

New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty
Ca. 1567 - 1085 BC.
Height: 3 1/4 in. (8 cm).

Alabaster was prized by the ancient Egyptians for its translucence and decorative veining, qualities which were further emphasized in the carving process.
