Egyptian Alabastron

An ancient Egyptian large banded alabaster alabastron with cylindrical neck, broad splayed lip, tapered body and two lug handles.

Late Period.
Ca. 700 - 30 BC.
Height: 6 3/4 in. (16.8 cm).

Alabaster was prized by the ancient Egyptians for its translucence and decorative veining, qualities which were further emphasized in the carving process.
