An ancient Miniature Cypriot bichrome ware amphora, with lateral handles, body painted with thin parallel lines and concentric circle designs.
Black-on-red Cypriot pottery reached its peak popularity during the Cypro-Geometric period to the Cypro-Archaic period, from 1000 BC to 600 BC. Most examples are small, miniature vessels made of thin-walled red-brown clay, then covered in a similar coloured slip, and finally geometric patterns were then applied in black pigment.
