Tairona Rock Crystal and Gold Necklace

A Pre-Columbian Tairona necklace composed of large biconical rock crystal beads inter-spaced with gold and jade beads.

Ca. 1000-1500 AD.
Length: 24 in. (61 kcm).

The gold industry of the Tairona of the northern Colombian highlands was highly developed. They produced many small intricately made ornaments of personal adornment often depicting caciques or chieftains with zoomorphic attributes.
