Sasanian Gold Ring with Carnelian Intaglio

An ancient Sasanian gold ring with a carnelian intaglio showing two recumbent ibexes facing each other. The ibex horns curl above their heads while hatched decorative vines frame the scene. The oval signet is engraved and set in an oval bezel, closed at the back and attached at either side to the solid tubular shank.

Ca. 5th - 7th century AD.
