A large ancient Roman pottery oil lamp with a looped handle and a tongue pattern around the center discus.

Ca. 1st century AD.
Length: 4 1/2 in. (11.2 cm).

A full lamp of this type would burn for two or three hours.

Formerly in a New Jersey private collection.
