Neo-Assyrian Chalcedony Cylinder Seal

An ancient Neo-Assyrian white chalcedony cylinder seal with a scene of two winged monsters chasing an ostrich, a zigzag border with parallel lines above.

Ca. 750 - 600 BC.

Height: 3/4 in. (1.7 cm).

Formerly in the Marcopoli collection, assembled in Aleppo, Syria, in the late 19th century; subsequently, McLendon collection, Dallas, Texas, acquired in 1978; The McLendon Collection of Cylinder and Stamp Seals; Antiquities, Christie's, New York, June 14, 1993, lot 273; subsequently in the Dr. Vallo Benjamin collection (1934-2021).
