An ancient Hellenistic Greek Megarian Ware wine cup, the body with relief decorations in the form of pine cone scales.
Megarian pottery, initially thought to have come from the Greek city of Megara and now known come from Athenian and Corinthian workshops, consists of a group of finely potted hemispherical cups and bowls made in molds with relief decoration imitating bronze vessels. They were produced after the final phases of red-figure Greek pottery and before the major production of Roman terra sigillata wares.
