An ancient Hellenistic Greek Megarian Ware wine cup, the body with relief decorations in the form of pine cone scales.

Diameter: 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm).

Megarian pottery, initially thought to have come from the Greek city of Megara and now known come from Athenian and Corinthian workshops, consists of a group of finely potted hemispherical cups and bowls made in molds with relief decoration imitating bronze vessels. They were produced after the final phases of red-figure Greek pottery and before the major production of Roman terra sigillata wares.
