Greek Wine Amphora

An ancient Greek Rhodian wine amphora with high arching acute handles each stamped in Greek with the name and origin of the vintage with grape leaf and caduceus.

Ca. late 3rd - 2nd century BC.
Height: 32 in. (81 cm).

Amphorae of this type were used for the storage and transportation of liquids, especially wine, olive oil and other foodstuffs.
