Greek Bronze Arm Guard

An ancient Greek bronze right upper arm guard of muscled anatomical form indicating the biceps with a drilled border that once secured the inner lining.

Ca. 6th - 5th century BC.
Height: 10 1/4 in. (26 cm).

Only a handful of ancient Greek arm guards are known. They are invariably made for the upper right arm. The hoplite handled his spear in his right hand while his left arm was protected by his large round aspis shield.
