An ancient Egyptian blue faience amulet depicting the child god Harpokrates nude, seated with his hands to his sides, wearing the sidelock of youth.

Ptolemaic Period.
Ca. 305 - 30 BC.
Height: 1 3/4 in. (4.2 cm).

Harpokrates, the infant son of Isis and Horus was a symbol of youth and fertility. He was essentially a patron deity of childhood, especially popular in the Late Period.
