An ancient Egyptian blue faience amulet depicting the child god Harpokrates seated with his left hand to his mouth, wearing the sidelock of youth; with suspension loop at the top.

Amarna Period, 18th Dynasty

Height: 7/8 in. (2.1 cm).

Harpokrates, the infant son of Isis and Horus was a symbol of youth and fertility. He was essentially a patron deity of childhood, especially popular in the Late Period.
