Egyptian Faience Amulet of Sekhmet-Mut

An ancient Egyptian blue-green faience openwork amulet of the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet-Mut, wearing the Double Crown, enthroned and nursing a standing child, with details in added black glaze and a suspension loop through the crown.

Height: 2 5/8 in. (6.9 cm).

Sekhmet was a warrior goddess of Upper Egypt depicted as a lioness. She was also a solar deity, and was associated with different aspects of Hathor, Mut, and Bastet. She often wears a solar disk headdress, and uraeus which associates her with Wadjet and royalty.
