An ancient Egyptian bronze kneeling priest in a striated kilt with cleanly shaven head holding a statue of Osiris, mummiform with atef crown, on an integral base with Hieroglyphic inscription.

Osiris was one of the most important gods of the Egyptian pantheon. He was the lord of the underworld, god of the dead and their domain to the west. Osiris was also the god of the inundation of the Nile and consequently fertility and came to be seen as a protective deity over both the living and dead.
