Egyptian Bronze Bust of Isis

An ancient Egyptian large bronze bust of the goddess Isis from an aegis, wearing a crown of urauei over a striated wig, eyes recessed to receive inlay, hinged at the back.

Late Dynastic Period.
Ca. 664 - 332 BC.
Height: 4 1/4 in. (9 cm).

Isis was the wife of Osiris, protector and patron of women, and model of conjugal love. She is often depicted suckling the infant Harpokrates. Later regarded as a healer, she became associated with Demeter, Aphrodite, and Hathor.
