An ancient Egyptian banded alabaster alabastron with short neck, tapered body and two lug handles.

Late Period.
Ca. 700 - 30 BC.
Height: 3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.)

Alabaster was prized by the ancient Egyptians for its translucence and decorative veining, qualities which were further emphasized in the carving process.
