The son of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina Junior, Commodus accompanied his father on his German campaigns and was elevated to co-ruler in 177. A corrupt megalomaniac, Commodus was murdered on 12/31/192 just before he was to assume the consulship dressed as a gladiator.
