Canaanite Amphora

An ancient Greek Canaanite ‘torpedo’ amphora of pointed form with lug handles at the shoulder.

Ca. 1300 - 900 BC.
Height: 17 3/4 in. (45 cm).

This ‘torpedo’ shaped amphora type (Gjerstad’s Plain White V-VI Ware) has been found at a number of Eastern Mediterranean sites from the late Bronze Age. They were among the cargo of the Uluburun wreck, ca. 1300 BC, found off the coast of Southern Turkey.
